We enjoyed fantastic Christmas performances this week from all year groups. From fabulous performance poetry from Years 3 - 6, to Christmas song and craft sessions from our SRP, Nursery and Year 2 children, to concerts from Reception, Year 1 and our school choir. Thank you to all famillies who attended to support their children. Through these performances, children are developing their confidence as well as their speaking and listening skills.
We all wore our Christmas jumpers today and enjoyed Christmas lunch together with our teachers and friends. Children received party hats and stickers – and there was even a visit from Santa!
It was wonderful to see so many of our families enjoying the festivities at our end-of-term Christmas Fair. We would like to thank all of our volunteers who worked tirelessly to make it such a success.
Today, our school was transformed into a vibrant art studio during our whole-school Art Day. From Nursery through to Year 6, every child stepped into the shoes of a professional artist, exploring the lives and techniques of creators from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures.
We have had a busy and exciting week celebrating UK Parliament Week. To kick things off, we had an assembly from the Parliament Outreach Team who shared an engaging and informative session about how the UK Parliament and democracy works and the importance of making our voices heard. This is following the fundamental British Value of Democracy
Following this inspirational visit, our pupils put theory into practice by participating in our very own Chesterfield School Parliament Elections. The elections were set up just like the real thing, giving the children an authentic experience of the democratic process. Every step mirrored a real election: pupils received official polling cards and cast their ballots in private voting booths to ensure confidentiality.
We are incredibly proud of the strong culture of Pupil Leadership developing across our school. Providing children with opportunities to get involved is key to helping them develop their own leadership skills, boost their confidence, and make a tangible contribution to our school community.
This year, we have introduced a wide range of exciting and important roles, ensuring every pupil has a chance to step up and shine—from our Head Students, vibrant School Parliament and dedicated Eco-Warriors to focused roles like Games Makers, Librarians and Attendance Champions.
We encourage all pupils to be leaders in their own way—through showing our school values every day: kindness, respect, responsibility and resilience.
Our Tag Rugby Team did an amazing job representing our school in the recent tournament hosted at Prince of Wales School. They put in an absolutely brilliant performance, showing fantastic energy and sportsmanship throughout the day. The children showcased some superb tag rugby skills, including: Lightning-fast running and agility when attacking, quick tagging in defence to stop the opposition and brilliant teamwork to pass the ball into space.
We celebrated our Harvest Festival this year by focusing on gratitude and giving back to our local community. Our Harvest celebration began with a special visit from Kerry from the North Enfield Food Bank. Kerry led a thought-provoking assembly, teaching our pupils all about the vital work food banks do and why they are so essential in helping local families. Following this, we held our own school food bank collection, inviting all families to contribute canned goods, packet foods, and toiletries. We were absolutely overwhelmed by the response! Your generosity was astounding, allowing us to collect an incredible six large boxes of much-needed items. A massive thank you to everyone who donated so kindly.
To round off our celebration, we welcomed Father Stephen from the Church of SS Peter and Paul for a special Harvest assembly. He spoke about the traditions and true meaning behind the Harvest Festival—thankfulness for food and sharing with others.
Later that same day, Kerry returned to collect the wonderful mountain of donations, with the help of our fantastic Head Students. We are so proud of our school community for showing such kindness.
It was lovely to welcome so many families to our Tea and Talk event for World Mental Health Day today!
A huge cheer for our fabulous Cross-Country Team who recently competed with incredible spirit and determination. Running cross-country is one of the toughest events, requiring a unique blend of physical fitness and mental fortitude. We are so proud of every single runner.
Our athletes displayed exceptional skills and, of course our Chesterfield Values:
