Our Year 6 Debating Team performed brilliantly at the Connect Trust Debate Competition hosted by Hazelbury School. The children used fantastic oracy skills to debate a range of topics on the theme of sustainability, and we are delighted to say that they won the competition, beating teams from six other schools. We are really proud of all of them - well done!
To celebrate World Music Day, the whole school dressed in their summer and festival outfits and took part in our World Music Day celebration in the school playground. The children enjoyed singing together, took part in a music quiz and enjoyed learning some new dance moves! A huge thank you to Magda for organising such a special event!
We are really proud of the 24 children who were selected to take part in the Borough Athletics at Lea Valley this week. Our young athletes showcased the skills they have learnt in their PE lessons and demonstrated our Chesterfield values of Resilience, Respect, Responsibility and Kindness.

As part of their leaver's celebrations, our Year 6 children enjoyed a special trip to the West End to watch Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre in London's West End. This was a well-deserved treat after they worked so hard in their recent SATs tests.
This week, our highly anticipated Intrasports event ignited a passion for physical activity and boosted the health and wellbeing across all year groups! Children embraced the opportunity to engage in a diverse carousel of sports, fostering both individual skill and team spirit. Divided into distinct colour-coded teams, pupils enthusiastically participated in a wide array of activities including the strategic aim of curling, the athletic launch of javelin, dynamic football skills drills, and many other exciting challenges. It was a wonderful display of teamwork, effort, and the joy of movement, all contributing to a healthy and active school community!
Children who achieved 100% attendance this half-term were invited to a special breakfast to celebrate this fantastic achievement! We were absolutely delighted to recognise their dedication and consistency.
We love seeing our pupils in school every day, thriving in their learning environment! Consistent attendance is incredibly important for every child's success and overall wellbeing. Each day at school is packed with exciting lessons, engaging discussions, and hands-on activities that build knowledge and confidence. Being present every day helps children develop strong friendships, feel a vital part of our school community, and truly flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. We truly appreciate your amazing support in helping your child enjoy the full benefits of school every single day!
Here at Chesterfield, we were thrilled to participate in National Numeracy Day on May 21st, joining schools across the country in celebrating the power and importance of numbers! This year's theme, focusing on money, provided a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to connect their learning with real-world financial understanding.
Year 5 pupils embarked on a captivating historical journey to the Victorian Ragged School Museum. The children thoroughly enjoyed this unique and interactive experience, where they actively learned about the stark differences between Victorian school life and their own daily routines. From stern teachers to cramped classrooms, they were able to directly compare their educational experiences, prompting many thoughtful discussions about social history. It was a memorable visit that brought the past to life!
Packham and Thunberg classes had a fantastic real-world learning experience with a special visit to the Silver Service Cafe! The children were brilliant, learning all about the practical ins and outs of ordering and paying for food in a cafe setting. We all thoroughly enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate and buttered toast, and we were so impressed by their impeccable manners throughout the visit. Building on this practical outing, back at school, the children then took charge! As part of our Maths Day celebration, they brilliantly designed, set up, and ran their very own cafe, applying their new understanding of transactions and customer service in a fun and engaging way.
